As of 1st July ERP Italia  directly operates its WEEE and Waste Battery take back service

The European Recycling Platform (ERP) today announced the results from its pan-European survey into Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) (and waste battery) recycling habits to coincide with Europe Day, the anniversary of the creation of the European Union in 1950.

By Decree issued by the Ministry of Environment on 9 July, the entry into force of the SISTRI has been postponed to 1 October 2010.

On 7 July 2010, the revision to the Programme Agreement WEEE ANCI / Coordination Centre was executed. Among the key new provisions, amendments were made to the Efficiency Prizes.

We would like to inform you that as of yesterday the new function which permits producers to comply to their mandate of annually declaring their put-on-market figures is online at the EEE Register’s website.

The long awaited “WEEE Simplification Decree” has finally been published in the Gazzetta Ufficiale. This provision will permit as of 19^th June, 30 days after its publication, the simplified collection of WEEE from retailers, part the 1:1 take back procedure described in the WEEE Decree. Consumers will therefore be able to hand in their obsolete electric/electronic appliances when buying a new equivalent one.

The Council of Ministers finally approved on 30th April the Decree that officially postpones to the 30th June the annual presentation of the MUD (MUD = Modulo unico dichiarazione ambientale, Single environmental declaration module).

With less than a month to go from the deadline relative to the presentation of the MUD, significant doubts remain regarding the 2009 EEE put on market declaration procedure.

Batteries and Accumulators producers are notified that they must submit by 31 March 2010 the statement to the Register concerning the Batteries and Accumulators put on the market in 2009.

By the first half of March 2010, the Coordination centre shall reallocate part of the WEEE collection points to the various Collective Systems, subsequent to reception of the new data on the products put on the market relating to 2009.

By publication on 13 January 2010 in the Italian Gazzetta Ufficiale (“official bulletin of laws”) (ordinary supplement no. 10, general series no. 9) of the Ministerial decree dated 17 December 2009, officially starts the SISTRI, the system for the waste traceability.

WARNING! The customers, producers of household EEE are notified that, by 5 February 2010, they must communicate to ERP Italia the quantities put on the market in 2009.

As of 18 November, it is possible making the communication to the EEE Register the EEE put on the market in 2007/2008. It shall also be possible making any rectification to the data relating to 2006. ERP Italia shall communicate the WEEE collected and treated in 2008 in relation to all producers who are members of the Compliance Scheme.

WARNING! It is now possible making the registration to the national register of the Batteries and Accumulators producers.

By official starting as from 1st January 2008 of the WEEE System in Italy, ERP Italia has commenced its business of WEEE management, through collection from the collection points allotted by the Coordination centre, as provided for by the producers’ liability share.
